Reunification Drills Coming

As part of our participation in The Great Shake-Out, we are including practice on the reunification portion of a drill.  In an emergency, if there was a need to release students to families outside of regular dismissal, we need a process to document who each student was released to. In a genuine emergency, phones may be down, and one parent may be unable to communicate with another to inform them who has the kids.  In that event, we need to know who each child was released to quickly. We also need to account for every student. Because emotions will be high in a real emergency, the office must have a clear, consistent practice, and families and students must know where to go, what to do, and what is needed. To this point, we are asking families to come to school 30 minutes before drop-off on their assigned day to practice this reunification process. As a reminder, we can only release students to those you have listed as contacts in AERIES. Since computers will likely be down in a real emergency, we will print emergency cards for reference throughout the year. Please go into AERIES and make any necessary adjustments to your emergency contacts by Sunday, October 13th. Please check your child's emergency contact list before that time. Please mark the following dates and times for your student's emergency reunification drill so you can participate in this important event. Please note that you will only be able to pick up the student participating in the drill.  Any siblings in other grades must be picked up at their regular dismissal time since the office will be closed during the drills.
