Be Prepared for Rainy Day Dismissal Tomorrow

By all reports,we will most certainly have a rainy-day dismissal tomorrow.  In order to have students as covered as possible while waiting, we have devised the following plan.  To make it work,we need ALL kinder families and ALL 1st-grade families to park in a parking spot, or on the street and walk up to pick up your students.  In addition, we encourage as many families with students in other grades to park and walk up as dismissal from the valet line is extremely slow.  It is really difficult to hear over the radios and the students have to be so far back they don't see you well.  If you do use the line and your child is old enough to have a cell phone we encourage you to text them when you are close enough for them to walk to you. If you are planning to do that, please let them know ahead of time so they know to look at their phones.  Adults, please bring an umbrella and wear a water-resistant jacket as we will need to reserve the underhang areas for students.  We especially need to keep the area in front of the office clear as that is where our sixth-grade students will be waiting and where we will have students exit as they walk to their cars.  Here is the plan for each grade level:

TK/K - Mrs. Jared and Mrs. Haden will dismiss from their classrooms, Mrs. Hawkin’s class will join Mrs. Jared’s class in K-1 for dismissal.  All parents will enter through the kinder gate and go directly to the classroom for pick up.

1st grade - Students will line up on the kinder playground under the underhang outside K-2.  Parents should enter through the kinder gate and pick up their kids directly from the picnic tables.

2nd grade - Students will line up under the underhang outside K-1 behind gate 3.  Parents who walk up should go to dismissal gate #3 to pick up students.

3rd grade - 3rd will line up outside the office (under the underhang) in the courtyard.  Parents who walk up should walk through gate 2 (the double gate) and go directly to students for pick-up.  Please don't use gate 1 at all as we need to keep in front of the office and gate 1 clear for 6th graders and students walking to cars in the valet lane.

4th-5th grade -  4th and 5th will line up outside the cafeteria, with 4th being closest to the office and 5th staying closest to the A/B buildings.  Parents who walk up should enter and leave through gate 2 (the double gate). Please don't use gate 1 at all as we need to keep in front of the office and gate 1 clear for 6th graders and students walking to cars in the valet lane.

6th grade  - Line up in their regular spots in the front of the office, but stay close to the building.  They should be looking for their cars.  Adults should not stand in the area in front of the office or use gate 1 to pick up students.  We need to keep in front of the office and gate 1 clear for 6th graders and students walking to cars in the valet lane.

If you have someone other than yourself picking up your child, please forward this information to them.  Rainy days are hard days for dismissal.  We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to safely dismiss every student keeping them as dry as possible.
